White Tiger Star(白虎大殺)

The White Tiger Star (Baekho-daesal, 白虎大殺) is a symbolic star assigned to any year · month · day · hour pillar containing one of seven stem-branch pairs: Gap-jin (甲辰) · Eul-mi (乙未) · Byeong-sul (丙戌) · Jeong-chuk (丁丑) · Mu-jin (戊辰) · Im-sul (壬戌) · Gye-chuk (癸丑).

When present, it is read as a reminder to be mindful of sudden clashes in that area of life. Its fierce name does not mean an accident is destined to happen.

Traits

The table lists seven stem-branch pairs that qualify for the White Tiger Star. Unlike Goegang, which checks only the day pillar, the White Tiger Star checks all four pillars and counts each position separately. Both the heavenly stem and earthly branch must match; a matching branch alone does not qualify. Schools largely agree on these seven pairs, so Seowoon uses the traditional list.

In plain English, it is “a position of forceful collisions”. The fierce name, White Tiger, has long made it a feared star, but the traditional reading concerns things arriving and leaving abruptly in that area of life. It generally suggests a sudden, forceful encounter rather than a smooth transition. Its position matters more than its name.

In the year pillar, these clashes are read through family and earlier generations; in the month pillar, through parents and social life; in the day pillar, through you and your partner; and in the hour pillar, through children and later life. A White Tiger day pillar is often discussed in relationship readings because it touches both your own tendencies and your partner's.

Two or more mean there are multiple positions to read separately. If a pillar does not qualify, it is simply one of the other 53 out of the 60 stem-branch pairs. Far more people do not have this star. Im-sul · Mu-jin also qualify for Goegang, so both stars can appear together.

Seowoon's free symbolic star (sal, 煞) reading lists five “stars identified by pillars and characters” below the twelve position-based stars. If you have the White Tiger Star, it shows the pillar and stem-branch pair involved, including every position when it appears more than once.

A common misconception

Claims like “White Tiger Star = bloodshed” and “People with the White Tiger Star die in accidents” have circulated for years, but the calculation only checks whether one of seven stem-branch pairs is present.A frightening name does not mean a frightening reality. The saju reading goes only as far as advising care with sudden clashes. The calculation does not establish that an event will happen.

Frequently asked questions

Does the White Tiger Star mean I will have an accident?

No calculation guarantees an event. Saju reads it as things coming and going abruptly in that area of life, so the guidance is simply to be careful with rushed decisions. Its pillar determines whether the focus is family · work · your partner · later life.

How is a White Tiger day pillar read?

If your day pillar is one of the seven pairs, the star falls in the position representing you and your partner. It is often discussed in relationship readings because it touches both people's tendencies, but the calculation does not establish that there will be relationship problems. The surrounding Ten Gods are considered too.

How are 2 White Tiger Stars read?

There are two positions associated with clashes, so each pillar is read separately. It means two areas to consider, not twice the misfortune. If a pair also qualifies for Goegang, both stars appear.
