Direct Officer(正官)

Here is how to find Direct Officer. In the controlling cycle — Wood controls Earth, Earth controls Water, Water controls Fire, Fire controls Metal, and Metal controls Wood — the element that controls you is Officer (Gwanseong, 官星). Within that element, opposite yin-yang polarity makes it Direct Officer; matching polarity makes it Seven Killings. In the table's Gap Wood (甲) Day Master row, Sin Metal (辛) is Direct Officer. Among the branches, Yu (酉) is Direct Officer because its main hidden stem is Sin Metal. For a Byeong Fire (丙) Day Master, Ja (子) is Direct Officer because its main hidden stem is Gye Water (癸). Check the table rather than guessing from the branch alone.

The Officer group receives the “Challenge” color in the 4-level relationship scale because it represents pressure on you. With Direct Officer, though, opposite yin-yang polarities fit together, so saju interprets that pressure as a force that gives you structure.
