What Captivity Star means

The Captivity Star directly clashes with the middle branch of a Three Harmony group, the General Star position. It is therefore read as energy that opposes your own side. Traditional readings warned of confinement · lawsuits · accidents, but also saw it as a strength when applied to law and discipline.

One table is all you need to find it. Each Three Harmony group of year branches has a designated Captivity Star branch — Sin-Ja-Jin (申子辰) points to O (午), Hae-Myo-Mi (亥卯未) to Yu (酉), In-O-Sul (寅午戌) to Ja (子), and Sa-Yu-Chuk (巳酉丑) to Myo (卯). If that branch appears anywhere in your four pillars, the Captivity Star is present. Seowoon's symbolic star reading uses the day branch as its reference, while this table shows the traditional year-branch arrangement — the same table works with either reference.
