Robbery Star(劫殺)

The Robbery Star (Geop-sal, 劫殺) is the first of the twelve symbolic stars. Depending on the Three Harmony group your year branch belongs to, it appears when your chart contains Sa (巳) · Sin (申) · Hae (亥) · In (寅).

Its name means “a star that takes away”, so it has traditionally been associated with financial loss · sudden change. It is also read as the drive and competitive spirit to seize an opportunity before others do.

What Robbery Star means

Geop (劫) means taking something by force or threat. The Robbery Star comes immediately after the final branch of a Three Harmony group, the Canopy position, where that group's element ends. It is read as a point where energy abruptly breaks and changes. Traditional readings warned of sudden losses or disputes in this area, but also saw the same force as decisiveness that helps you seize opportunities first.

One table is all you need to find it. Each Three Harmony group of year branches has a designated Robbery Star branch — Sin-Ja-Jin (申子辰) points to Sa (巳), Hae-Myo-Mi (亥卯未) to Hae (亥), In-O-Sul (寅午戌) to In (寅), and Sa-Yu-Chuk (巳酉丑) to Sin (申). If that branch appears anywhere in your four pillars, the Robbery Star is present. Seowoon's symbolic star reading uses the day branch as its reference, while this table shows the traditional year-branch arrangement — the same table works with either reference.

Key traits

This is read as quick decision-making, a strong competitive spirit, and the ability to rally in a crisis. A defining trait is the courage to act while others hesitate.

When it shows up positively

It is read as seizing opportunities first in competitive settings and earning recognition as a problem-solver who can turn a crisis around.

What to watch for

Traditional readings advise caution about losses from rushing or money lost through disputes. A common suggestion is to look twice at financial commitments involving others, such as guaranteeing a loan · going into business together.

Careers and Natural Aptitudes

It is considered a good fit for work requiring competition and decisive action (sales · investing · sports · the military · policing), or handling crises (security · emergency response · restructuring).

Love and relationships

It is read as a tendency to take the lead in relationships. Common advice is to leave room for the other person rather than push too hard if you want the relationship to last.

Health

Traditional readings describe the Robbery Star as urgent energy and advise caution about overloaded schedules and accidents.

Health readings based on symbolic stars are traditional interpretations, not diagnoses. Have any symptoms evaluated through medical care.

A common misconception

You may hear “Having a Robbery Star means losing all your money”, but it is simply one of twelve names assigned in a cycle. It does not determine financial loss. Its meaning changes entirely depending on which Ten God occupies that position and whether its energy is needed in the chart.

How do I find the Robbery Star?

If your year branch belongs to Sin-Ja-Jin, the Robbery Star is Sa; for Hae-Myo-Mi, it is Sin; for In-O-Sul, it is Hae; and for Sa-Yu-Chuk, it is In. It is present if that branch appears anywhere in your chart.

Is having a Robbery Star bad?

It is a position that calls for care around loss and sudden change, but it can also express itself as drive and a competitive spirit. It is interpreted within the balance of the whole chart.

Are the Robbery Star and Rob Wealth the same?

No. Rob Wealth is one of the Ten Gods, assigned to a stem that shares the Day Master's element but has the opposite yin-yang polarity. The Robbery Star is one of the twelve symbolic stars, determined by the Three Harmony group.
