Earth Star(地殺)

The Earth Star (Jisal, 地殺) is the fourth of the twelve symbolic stars. It appears when your chart contains the starting branch of your birth year's Three Harmony group: Sin (申)·Hae (亥)·In (寅)·Sa (巳).

Associated with moving across the land, it represents movement·departures·new surroundings. Like the Traveling Horse, it suggests energy that reaches beyond familiar places.

What Earth Star means

The Earth Star marks the beginning of a Three Harmony group, giving it the energy of “setting out”. Older readings associated it with leaving your hometown or moving often. Today, it can suggest broadening your horizons through a new job, a move, or activities abroad.

One chart is all you need to find it. Each Three Harmony group has a designated Earth Star branch — Sin-Ja-Jin (申子辰) births use Sin (申), Hae-Myo-Mi (亥卯未) births use Hae (亥), In-O-Sul (寅午戌) births use In (寅), and Sa-Yu-Chuk (巳酉丑) births use Sa (巳). If that branch appears anywhere in the Four Pillars, the Earth Star is present. Seowoon uses the day branch as the reference for symbolic star readings, while this chart follows the traditional year-branch approach — both use the same chart.

Key traits

It suggests someone who adapts quickly to new places and has a wide range of activities. The defining trait is finding opportunities through movement rather than staying in one place.

When it shows up positively

It may show up as finding opportunities through travel and connections, or as the ability to establish yourself somewhere new.

What to watch for

Traditional readings advise watching for frequent moves that unsettle your foundations, or a tendency to start things without following through.

Careers and Natural Aptitudes

It is considered a good fit for work involving movement, such as trade·distribution·logistics, travel·aviation·transportation, sales·diplomacy, and international work.

Love and relationships

In relationships, it suggests an active social life and frequent new connections. A common recommendation is to make time for loved ones even when life gets busy.

Health

Because the Earth Star represents movement, older readings advise being mindful of fatigue and accidents while traveling.

Health readings based on symbolic stars are traditional interpretations, not diagnoses. Have any symptoms evaluated through medical care.

A common misconception

People often say, “The Earth Star and Traveling Horse are the same”, but although both fall on the birth branches (In·Sin·Sa·Hae), they occupy different positions relative to the Three Harmony group. The Earth Star marks your group's starting point, while the Traveling Horse sits opposite that point in a clash relationship and is associated with journeys farther afield.
