Im-jin day pillar(壬辰)

Im (壬) is yang Water, a vast body of water. General interpretations associate it with depth and choosing its own direction. Jin (辰) is yang Earth, the damp soil of late spring where several energies mingle. The image is water held behind an embankment: the ground beneath you exerts pressure, and you stand within that tension.

The day branch’s Ten God is Seven Killings, and its twelve life stage is gathering in and storing away (Tomb, 墓). Jin (辰) contains three hidden stems: Mu (戊), Seven Killings; Eul (乙), Hurting Officer; and Gye (癸), Rob Wealth. Beneath demanding responsibilities lie the drive to challenge and express, along with someone who shares your portion. General interpretations describe someone who faces pressure yet tries to reshape its framework, with a rival often nearby. Tomb is a stage of gathering and storing, suggesting inner depth like water collecting in a reservoir.

That is as far as the chart facts go. Personality descriptions are general interpretations. The month branch and hour pillar determine how much Water a particular Im-jin chart holds.

Seven Killings is a Ten God associated with strength under pressure, while the hidden Hurting Officer represents the drive to reshape that framework. General interpretations link the Im-jin day pillar both to disciplined fields such as the military, policing, law, and oversight, and to work that rethinks systems, such as planning, research, and reform. Its image of vast water also brings associations with shipping, logistics, and distribution.

Vast water takes the most effort to contain within narrow boundaries. One interpretation suggests that you can withstand pressure but may struggle to stay long in a role with no autonomy. The month branch and hour pillar show whether Resource, associated with Metal, channels the pressure of Seven Killings, and whether numerous Peer stars mean sharing resources.

Seven Killings occupies the day branch, the partner seat. General interpretations suggest that when tension arises in a close relationship, redefining roles may help more quickly than trying to resolve the feelings right away. A partner may bring structure and stability, but if that support feels restrictive, Hurting Officer is said to push back.

Compatibility begins with the pairings of the day branch, Jin (辰). Yu (酉) binds with it through the Jin-Yu Six Harmony, while Sul (戌) meets it head-on in a Jin-Sul Clash. Sin (申) · Ja (子) join it in the Sin-Ja-Jin Three Harmony. Calculation establishes these connections; both complete birth charts reveal how they may play out.

In traditional saju, Officer represents a woman’s spouse. For a woman with an Im-jin day pillar, Officer, specifically Seven Killings, sits directly in the day branch. This is interpreted as a prominent partner connection with a strong emphasis on rules. Because Hurting Officer is also hidden there, the tension between Officer and Hurting Officer within one branch needs a closer look. If other Officer stars appear elsewhere, the chart is also examined for a mix of Direct Officer and Seven Killings.

In traditional saju, Wealth represents a man’s spouse. For a man with an Im-jin day pillar, no Wealth star sits in the day branch, so interpretations place the pressures of that position before the partner connection. To locate that connection, we look for Wealth, associated with Fire, in the other pillars. If gender is unspecified, both readings are included.

With water held behind an embankment, pressure can build inside. General interpretations of the Im-jin day pillar highlight holding things in until they burst out, and blurred boundaries over shared resources because of the hidden Rob Wealth star.

In the rest of the chart, we look for Metal, associated with Resource, to channel the pressure of Seven Killings, and check whether additional Earth obstructs the Water. A year or ten-year period that brings Sul (戌) forms a Jin-Sul Clash. Calculation establishes the clash; it does not determine what will happen that year.
