What is a Korean bujeok (boo-juhk)?

A bujeok is a traditional Korean talisman: a slip of yellow paper with characters and symbols brushed in red. People keep one in a wallet, a drawer, or above a door to hold on to a wish — passing an exam, safe travels, a good match — or to keep bad luck away. The red ink, traditionally made from cinnabar, is said to drive away evil spirits, and yellow is the traditional color of the paper.

How Seowoon draws yours

Your talisman keeps the classic look. Two large Chinese characters in the center name your wish, and four characters of a lucky phrase run down the sides. The border and seal come from your saju (Korean Four Pillars astrology) — whichever of the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) best balances your chart — so the charm brings in that element. The characters are Chinese, as on traditional talismans; the result card explains what they mean.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Will I get a different talisman if I make it again?

The same birth details and the same wish always give the same talisman. Pick a different wish and the center characters and lucky phrase change.

Q. Why do you need my birth time and place?

They set your chart's hour and its true local time, which decides the element on your border and seal. If you don't know the time, check “I don't know my birth time” — the talisman still works from your date of birth. Your details are used only to draw this talisman and are never saved.

Q. Can I save the image?

Yes. Tap “Save image” on the result to download it, or “Share” to send it straight to a friend.

Q. Can I use it commercially?

Please keep it for personal use and sharing with friends. Selling it or using it in ads is not allowed.
